Reworking a double refrigerator bay into a custom pantry

This granby kitchen was built with twin armoire refrigerators. When our clients bought the home, they decided they would rather have additional pantry space. They reached out to us looking to see if it was possible to transform the refrigerator bay into pantry storage that would blend seamlessly into their existing cabinetry.
Of course we are always up to a creative carpentry challenge and were happy to take on the project! Scroll on to see what we started with, and how we built the pantry storage our clients were looking for.
After meeting with our clients, measuring the space and taking notes about what they were looking for, we went back to our shop to build the pantry unit.
We created a tall double door pantry that would fit the old refrigerator bay perfectly, and outfitted it with four slow closing rolling shelves that would ensure easy storage access.
When it came time for install, the new unit fit perfectly into its space. We painted the frame and doors to match the existing cabinetry, and installed matching hardware. The final result looks as if it had always been there!
