Preserving history in West Hartford
January 19, 2024
When our clients reached out to us looking to renovate their 1920 home's upstairs bathroom while ensuring the space would still retain the look and feel of the rest of the home, we were all too happy to take on the project. After seeing the before and afters, we think you'll agree that we were able to achieve just that.
This West Hartford bathroom is unique in that our clients designed the space around the home's original 1920's tub and radiator - keeping the original door with its crystal knob, too! Replicating a 1920's bathroom wouldn't be complete without a nod to the decadent tile of the period. While it was time for the bathroom's original penny tile to go, our clients chose a stunning alternative which perfectly suits the maximalism of the decade, and sets off the beauty of the radiator and statement tub with its single curved corner to perfection.
This project is an excellent example of the way that salvaging elements of a historic space and replicating others can result in a gorgeous new remodel while retaining continuity with the rest of a home. Want to see more? We filmed the process, click the button to watch it come together!
